Ball valves and gate valves both provide shut-off control, but they serve different purposes.

Ball valves:

  • Quarter-turn operation

  • Faster shut-off

  • Bubble-tight sealing

  • Ideal for frequent operation

Gate valves:

  • Linear motion operation

  • Better for full open/full close applications

  • Suitable for larger pipelines

For systems requiring quick emergency shutdown, ball valves are typically preferred. For pipeline isolation in high-pressure lines, gate valves remain widely used.

Using the wrong valve type increases wear and reduces system efficiency. Application defines the choice.
